A Rusty Light Bulb

Good morning! Well, I'm not sure yet how good it is as it's very early here in the UK and dark as night outside still, but hopefully it will shape up to be a lovely sunny Autumn day eventually.

Talking of dark, I thought I would pop by and share a light bulb project I made a little while ago for show that Jo did on Hochanda using the Studio Light Industrial range of stamps and dies and the absolutely brilliant Rusty Magic and Metallic Magic. I had so much fun doing this one. The bulb was an oversized drinks decanter from the store Tiger.

First I coloured the inside of the bottle using watered down Metallic Magic in a variety of colours, pouring it in and turning the bottle around until it was totally covered. While that was drying I die cut the lightbulbs from cardstock and used Rusty Magic over them and the bottle top. I absolutely love how easy this is to use. I am a huge fan of steampunk and industrial type of style, and creating an authentic rust look is so easy on anything. You just dab the base colours on with a foam dabber, and then once dry add a small amount of patina over the top and job done. No faffing, just a great rust effect.

Once it was all totally dry, I stuck the die cuts around the top. But a light bulb isn't much use unless it actually works though right?

This is such a big bulb that it took a set of fairy lights inside easily, creating a great effect. Perfect for those summer evenings in the garden, or now the Summer has passed creating a cosy glow inside in the warm.

I'll be back soon with some more projects to share with you. My fellow DT will also be uploading some so don't forget to hit the 'follow' button so that you can keep up with us. You can also join the Luv Crafts Crafting and Mixed Media Facebook Group if you area social media user. We love to see your projects on there so feel free to share.

Bye for now

Christmas MDF

Good morning! I thought I'd pop by to share my take on the new Christmas mdf decorations that Luv Crafts introduced this week on Hochanda.

It's really strange working on Christmas projects while the sun is shining so fiercely outside I must admit, as normally I am a bit of a last minute type where the festive season is concerned, but these were so much fun to do that I soon found my wintery groove.

All Christmas crafts should be sparkly ( in fact in my world everything should be sparkly!) and the Luv Crafts Shimmer Magic paints are perfect for the job as they are so so glitzy. I adore them!  On the globe decoration I used some gorgeous decoupage from Studio Light to give a focal point, but it can also be changed out for a real bauble so it's very versatile.

On my tree I used Metallic Magic in pearl to colour it, and around the base I pounded on Let It Snow paste and added a generous layer of Festive Magic to create a lovely crunchy snow effect, adding some gold embellishments once dry. I also added snow around the edge of the tree. I decorated the tree with sparkly star embellishments and Pearl Pens. The bauble is by Studio Light and decorated with a beautiful shrink wrap from The Woodland Collection. The shrink wraps are amazing- it's like watching real magic happen when you apply heat. So much fun to do to create your own decorations.

I'll be back soon with some more projects to share, as will my team mates so don't forget to hit the follow button so you can keep up to date with what we are all up to.

You can also follow the Luv Crafts Crafting and Mixed Media Facebook group and share your own projects with us there. We love to see what you are making too.

Have a great week

Welcome to Our DT

We are extremely happy to announce our Luv Crafts Design Team and are super excited to have these amazingly talented ladies on board.
We’ll be sharing lots of ideas created by these very talented individuals over the coming months. For now we thought you would like to get to know our team starting with Jo who you will be seeing on Hochanda!

Jo Luv

Hey everyone, So here is a little bit about me... I'm 27 and from Hertfordshire. All my life I have grown up with craft, from making scrapbooks of holidays to cakes for birthdays. I love to learn new things. Last year I decided to start Luv Crafts to be able to bring to the crafting world all the different products that I love. On a trip to Holland I found StudioLight. Ruud & his son Sander were very friendly and we quickly struck up a close working relationship. Luv Crafts are proud to bring all of the new collections from StudioLight (along with a range of Pastes & Mediums from our own range) to the UK.
See you all soon!

Denyse Coughlan

Hi, I have been crafting for many years (too many to count!) and have progressed from cross stitch and tapestry through card making to mixed media work. I am also learning to modify doll faces (in particular Blythe style dolls) using carving and resin techniques with my daughter Bethany. I have also been enjoying crotchet for about 18 months. I delighted to be part of this team and absolutely loive the Studiolight and Luv Crafts products that Jo brings to Hochanda.

Diane Williams

Hi, I'm Diane and love all forms of crafting and because of this I don't like to be known for just one thing and will think outside the box a lot. I’m always on the hunt for new things to try and be creative with and love learning from all crafters, there's just never enough time in the day for me!
My day job is hairdressing and I have been a mobile hairdresser in Buckinghamshire for over 30 years giving my services to the elderly and house bound.

Emma Blake

Hi I'm Emma I've been Crafting pretty much all of my life, it started as a very young child with my mam and its been an obsession ever since, my favourite type of art is mixed media but I love to try new things.

Tracey Mowbray

I'm Tracey married with 2 teenagers & a puppy. I love paper crafting and card making. I'm very lucky to be on this brilliant team. I get to play with stamps, stencils, decoupage etc. I look forward to showing you all my projects made for the shows.

Lynda Hall

Hi. It’s great to be here on the Luv Crafts' brand new blog as one of their design team members. I live in Hampshire with my husband, two daughters and 3 mad dogs and run my own childcare business from home. Life is busy to say the least, and art helps me retain some sanity in my otherwise crazy world! I have been crafting in one form or another for as long as I can remember and enjoy all sorts of different types of craft, but paper craft and mixed media work are my absolute favourites these days and the thing I spend the most of my free time doing. I am really looking forward to sharing some of my work with you and showcasing the great products that Luv Crafts bring to the art and craft world.

Lesley Pyle

Hi everyone. Im Lesley, I'm 54 and I live in Leyland, Lancashire with my partner, my daughter, her hubby and my son. Ive always been creative but in 2012 I found a passion for paper which I didn't know I had! Anything to do with paper makes me happy from cardmaking to mini albums - it's all so satisfying! Im an avid crafter and I lose myself in my craft room every day (hence the title of my Facebook page - In My Craft Room Daily!). There I can create a variety of cards but I don't stick with one style. I like to vary my makes to suit the occasion, the individual and also my mood so nothing is off-limits!When I'm not creating I love to read, follow F1 and binge watch box sets on Netflix. I've been on several DTs including TiddlyInk stamps and Crafty creations but currently my focus is being part of the Reader Tester Team at Papercraft Inspirations magazine, occasional DT member for Craftstash Uk and now Luv Crafts so there's plenty to keep me busy!

You can find all of our lovely ladies own Blogs & Social Media pages on the right.
